Fanfare for the Exhausted – wind orchestra

Fanfare for the Exhausted starts as a kind of lullaby, gradually transforming into a full-blown fanfare. Under the lullaby melodies there is a stubborn layer of feisty tuplet rhythms, first in the snare, then in the woodwinds. The piece is inspired by the joys and struggles of being a parent to a toddler, and more specifically, trying to get a small human to have their nightly sleep.
